Erin and Kelly new album release – Trials, Tribulations

Erin and I met each other some years back at the monthly old-time jam at Liz Fischbach’s 1642 Bar in Historic Filipinotown, Los Angeles. Finding affinity over all things Swedish (Erin studied Swedish folk music in Northern Sweden and I am a half-Swede) and sharing artistic ties across the city, we became fast friends. This summer we found ourselves with a summer sabbatical of sorts and pining to fill that time with a project around the old-time fiddle melodies we love, Erin said, “Let’s record an album!” “Yes, let’s,” I replied. We got together weekly or so working through some of our enduring faves and adding new material from Erin’s magnificent sense for a tasty tune. As summer came to a close, we scheduled recording dates with her dad, Grammy Award winning microtonal master John Schneider, at the Schneider family home in Venice. The results, 10 songs and tunes stretching from the sacred harp to the Carter Family, beloved fiddle tunes, the gospel of E.C. and Orna Ball (from which they derived the album’s title), and Scandinavian folk. erinandkelly.bandcamp.com
